Sun. 7/26 -- 3-5PM | Printmaking Workshop

Led by artist and graphic novelist, Hannah Dykstra, illustrator of the new graphic novel A Total Work of Art: The Story of Edgar Miller, this workshop will guide attendees to learn and practice the process for linocut printmaking, screen printing, and poster card design in the style of Edgar Miller. Create your very own handprinted t-shirt, tote bag, poster, and postcard designs. Attendees will be able to select or create their own print template, and cut their own linoleum block during this workshop perfect for postcards, to create their own Miller-inspired printed pieces to take home. This workshop will showcase various examples of Miller's prints--particularly the inspired design-work currently on display at the Handmade Histories‍ ‍exhibition.

Registration fees include all necessary materials and equipment to create a set of your own, personalized greeting cards and small posters, as well as your choice of tote bag or t-shirt. Come and spend an afternoon with us of hands-on learning and crafting, exploring Miller’s unique modernist aesthetic and printmaking techniques. Light snacks and drinks will be provided during the workshop!

Sun. 8/2 -- 2-4PM | Cyanotype Workshop
$60.00

Led by artist, Adrienne Nadeau, this workshop will guide attendees to learn and practice the process for cyanotype print making and the use of organic materials, herbs, flowers, and found objects from the environment, inspired by Edgar Miller’s love of nature. Create your very own cyanotype printed tote bag, as well as hand designed poster and postcard designs. Attendees will be able to develop their own unique prints, while learning about natural photographic printing techniques that utilizes natural UV light from the sun. This workshop will draw inspiration from the artwork currently on display at the Handmade Histories‍ ‍exhibition.

Registration fees include all necessary materials and equipment to create a set of your own, personalized greeting cards and small posters, as well as one tote bag. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own flat-shaped found material, such as parts of herbs, flowers, vegetables, and household plants. Come and spend an afternoon with us of hands-on learning and crafting, exploring Miller’s unique modernist aesthetic and a whole new printmaking techniques. Light snacks and drinks will be provided during the workshop!

Please note that because this print making technique does require UV light, it will work best during a sunny day with little overcast. Should the day be too cloudy, we may reschedule this workshop to the “rain delay” date listed below.

Led by artist, Adrienne Nadeau, this workshop will guide attendees to learn and practice the craftwork of collage-making with its endless possibilities. Create your very own frameable collage poster, inspired by and utilizing prints of Edgar Miller’s artwork. Attendees will be able to develop their own unique collage aesthetic, while using Miller’s own work as a source of inspiration. This workshop will particularly explore the artwork currently on display at the Handmade Histories‍ ‍exhibition.

Registration fees include all necessary materials and equipment to create collage material from magazines, books, and decorative objects. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own print material that they may wish to use or share to create artistic displays. Come and spend an afternoon with us of hands-on learning and crafting. Light snacks and drinks will be provided during the workshop!
