Sun. 8/2 -- 2-4PM | Cyanotype Workshop

$60.00

Led by artist, Adrienne Nadeau, this workshop will guide attendees to learn and practice the process for cyanotype print making and the use of organic materials, herbs, flowers, and found objects from the environment, inspired by Edgar Miller’s love of nature. Create your very own cyanotype printed tote bag, as well as hand designed poster and postcard designs. Attendees will be able to develop their own unique prints, while learning about natural photographic printing techniques that utilizes natural UV light from the sun. This workshop will draw inspiration from the artwork currently on display at the Handmade Histories‍ ‍exhibition.

Registration fees include all necessary materials and equipment to create a set of your own, personalized greeting cards and small posters, as well as one tote bag. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own flat-shaped found material, such as parts of herbs, flowers, vegetables, and household plants. Come and spend an afternoon with us of hands-on learning and crafting, exploring Miller’s unique modernist aesthetic and a whole new printmaking techniques. Light snacks and drinks will be provided during the workshop!

Please note that because this print making technique does require UV light, it will work best during a sunny day with little overcast. Should the day be too cloudy, we may reschedule this workshop to the “rain delay” date listed below.

This workshop will take place on August 2nd from 2-4PM, in partnership with Art on Sedgwick and at their art center located at 1408 N Sedgwick St, Chicago, IL 60610. Rain delay date: Sunday, August 9th, 2-4PM.
