Sun. 7/26 -- 3-5PM | Printmaking Workshop
Led by artist and graphic novelist, Hannah Dykstra, illustrator of the new graphic novel A Total Work of Art: The Story of Edgar Miller, this workshop will allow attendees to learn and practice the process for linocut printmaking, screen printing, and poster card design in the style of Edgar Miller. Create your very own handprinted t-shirt, tote bag, poster, and postcard designs. Attendees will be able to select or create their own print template, and cut their own linoleum block during this workshop perfect for postcards, to create their own Miller-inspired printed pieces to take home. This workshop will showcase various examples of Miller's prints--particularly the inspired design-work currently on display at the Handmade Histories exhibition.
Registration fees include all necessary materials and equipment to create a set of your own, personalized greeting cards and small posters, as well as your choice of tote bag or t-shirt. Come and spend an afternoon with us of hands-on learning and crafting, exploring Miller’s unique modernist aesthetic and printmaking techniques. Light snacks and drinks will be provided during the workshop!
This workshop will take place in partnership with Art on Sedgwick and at their art center located at
1408 N Sedgwick St, Chicago, IL 60610.
