The stained glass windows at the south end of the room were all completed in 1929, part of the first completed stage of stained glass installation into the Garden of Paradise Room. Often overlooked on the way up the stairs, this small window continues on the naturalistic themes of the main central window and the bay window, typically only admired by visitors on the way back down. Here, in another dynamic figuration, an archer drawing his bow is highlighted; as well as one of Miller’s colorful birds.
These colorful examples of detailed stained glass were perhaps designed as just that, samples that Miller could show prospective customers who would commission Miller to produced an original stained glass piece for a commercial space. While he was working on the Glasner Studio and living nearby, Miller was still taking on many other commercial projects, and what better place than the Studio to show off the scale and scope of his technique.
