More than any other contributor to the restoration of the Glasner Studio, artist Bob Horn had the unique opportunity to install his own embedded artwork into the architecture of the Handmade Homes. In areas of the home like the Old Kitchenette, which was last updated in the mid-2000s, Horn was given the liberty to design and execute new artwork in Edgar Miller's signature eclectic style.
Miller himself produced little, if any, original artwork for the kitchenette during its initial construction, and so Horn's mosaic accent in the countertop is a perfect example of an artisan later adding to and subtly enhancing the original design of the Studio. The inspiration for its figurative design can be clearly traced back to the animal subjects Miller produced in 1932 for the Mosaic Bathroom a couple floors below. Horn always compared restoring and renovating Miller's artistic built-environments as akin to mastering someone else's handwriting. With Miller, a free-form approach to design was clearly the preferred method. Horn took pleasure in adding continuity to the home's nature-themed concept through his own interpretation of Miller's work.
