EML Partners with Art on Sedgwick!
We are especially excited to announce our first official partnership with Art on Sedgwick, a Chicago-based neighborhood organization that provides extra curricular arts education to grade school students in our community. Together, Edgar Miller Legacy and Art on Sedgwick will be facilitating a program for students to learn about the history of Edgar Miller in and out of their classrooms. These burgeoning artists will join us for site tours of the Glasner Studio to see Miller’s work up close. Partial support for this program is being generously provided through a grant from the Old Town Triangle Association.
This program will culminate in a Community Art Show on June 1st, 2018, where student artwork inspired by the program will be displayed. More information will be announced in our Spring 2018 newsletter!
New Artist in Residence - Ty Maxon
Following on the successful pilot program of our artist-in-residence series in 2017, Edgar Miller Legacy will continue to cultivate local up-and-coming artists through first-hand access to the inspirational space at Edgar Miller’s Glasner Studio. We’re excited to announce our Spring 2018 artist-in-residence: musician, composer & visual artist Ty Maxon.
Ty is a Michigan native but now calls Chicago home. He has been featured on NPR's “The Morning Shift” and has recorded an acclaimed “Daytrotter” session; he also published his first original coloring book in 2016. Over the course of his residence, Ty will work on new music and art at the Glasner Studio. An intimate, private performance to showcase Maxon's work will be held on Saturday, April 28th. More information will be available in our next newsletter.
